Bunyara Run 2023

Bunyarra Run Held on 25 June 2023

Due to a bereavement in the Gladigau family, Barry and Judy kindly offered to have us come to their property on Kibby Road, Loxton East.

Barry erected a suitable tarp to make a protected spot for us all to gather, out of the wind, and the arrangements were ideal for the weather; windy but sunny!

The attendance was excellent, with a range of Club vehicles, the oldest being the Wood’s 1925 Dodge Tourer. Most of us arrived close to midday. Thanks to Chris for being our tour guide from our meeting point outside the Loxton Club through the fruit blocks to our lunch time venue.

The BBQ lunch, salads and desserts were all shared and much appreciated. Thanks to the BBQ cooks and to Graham and Daphne for purchasing the BBQ meat requirements.

Barry and Judy arranged the usual range of entertaining games on their back lawn. There was another challenge to estimate the number of jelly beans in a jar. I think I managed to get one of the lowest scores for the games, including a zero for the “pig throw” (It must have been the wind!)

Despite my poor showing in the competitions, I was a little embarrassed to win the jar of jelly beans with the closest estimate of 450. Graham was runner up with an estimate of 440.

The Gladigau Memorial Trophy was won by Eric with 70pts. Runner ups were:

  • Bruce with 68pts
  • Lindsay with 63pts
  • Narelle with 60pts
  • Derrick with 60pts

The major difference in scoring was the “Flying Pigs”. This ranged from zero to Lindsay with 29pts.

Everyone agreed it was an excellent Club Run.

Thank you again to Judy and Barry for hosting us at short notice.
