Held on 8 May 2023
A fun filled Ladies Day, hosted by Loxton, was enjoyed by 18 ladies, representing Waikerie, Barmera, Berri, Renmark and Loxton.
The day started with a scrumptious morning tea, with each of the ladies introducing themselves. We were then divided into 5 groups and given folders containing information for a good old fashioned car trial / scavenger hunt.
Amongst lots of laughter, groups had to come up with a name for their team and ponder whether to create a poem or song, including all the words listed on the sheet.
Cars left at 5-minute intervals, to minimise “tail gating” to our destination, which at this stage was unknown to all. Following instructions is not always easy, particularly when some struggled to decide what direction was east or west? Although a cloudy sky was blamed by some!
Travelling on unsealed roads, without names, provided some challenges. And counting bales in a haystack and “disappearing” cattle, along with nameless towns added to the fun. Although Kay Sandow nearly trod on a yellow-bellied snake, while collecting native vegetation for her posy, which led to greater caution for her car for the rest of the drive.
But do ask one of the ladies about “snotty gobble”.
Our final destination was the Paruna Tavern at Browns Well. Although one car thought Taplan was a better option! Perhaps they should have opened their rescue envelope! We had a fantastic lunch at the Paruna Tavern and would certainly recommend a visit. There was much laughter over lunch as each group sang/recited their song/poem and presented their posies.
The winner of the car trial was the Seidals gaining 93 out of 87 points. A true indication of the fun and skulduggery on the day, all for a block of chocolate. But it was a great opportunity to get to know other lady members of the club and develop new friendships.
Make sure you keep your eye out for the next RVCCC Ladies Day and make the effort to come along.
I can guarantee you will have a really enjoyable day.
